Accessibility in Multilevel Homes

Accessibility in Multilevel Homes

beautiful home architeture with residential elevator

My sister used to be a marathon runner.  Every morning she would run several miles in her neighborhood, her path taking her over various terrain and elevations.  Her favorite run was The Turkey Trot, a 5K marathon that takes place every Thanksgiving morning in Springfield, Missouri.  She always said that after finishing the 5K she had earned the right to eat whatever she wanted on Thanksgiving, guilt free.

It was during one of these races that my sister stepped on a rock and injured her knee.  Unfortunately, the injury was so severe that she had to have surgery.  There she was, a woman in her thirties with a family to care for, unable to navigate her split-level home.  She ended up having to hire help, with her laundry being in the basement and the children’s rooms being on the second floor she needed more help than what her hardworking husband could offer.

Situations like this are incredibly common, people go from being in the best shape of their lives and then one rock in the road, one slick patch of ice, one accident and their life has completely changed.  With it being more economic to build multi story homes, accessibility is a huge factor that most do not consider until they are debilitated.

Country Home Elevator wants to help find the perfect accessibility solution for homeowners before these problems arise, we what to help prepare for the bumps in the road that life takes us on.  Residential Elevators can fit easily in home drawings where stacked hall closets were going to be.  Vertical Platform Lifts can be added to a back deck to add another mode of egress.  Stair lifts can be added to safely navigate basement stairs.  We even offer Attic Lifts when all those Christmas decorations get to be too heavy to take up the attic stairs.  With multiple offices spread throughout the Midwest, we have an expert near you that is ready to help!

Happy Wednesday Folks!

The first picture on the top left was taken by Sales Consultant Amy from our Kansas City Office.  Amy deeply cares for our customers, and is always going the extra mile to make sure that they receive top notch care. Country Home Elevator is currently renovating an elevator in Leawood, Kansas; and since Amy sold it a few years ago she decided to visit the jobsite to check on the progress.

The next picture was taken by our Senior Technician Ron in Branson, Missouri.  Our crews have been working through this blizzard all week, braving the cold and icy roads.  When the crews left out this morning, it was -7 degrees!  Thank you Teams for your dedication, we really appreciate you!

Our Arkansas Technician Dustin is featured in the next picture, he is prepping hydraulic piping for an elevator installation.  Elevator cabs come in a few standard sizes, depending on the need of the customer, but the hoistways they fit in do not typically conform to the exact measurements of the drawings.  This is why there are nil used elevators on the market, they are custom built to fit in each hoistway.

The middle picture to the left was taken by our Oklahoma Operations Manager Jim.  He is in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma today working on Symmetry Vertical Platform Lift.  Vertical Platform Lifts (VPLs for short), are truly the most versatile product we carry.  They can be outdoor or indoor, enclosed or open, stationary or portable, for maximum flexibility.

The final two pictures were taken by our Lead Technician Adam of the jobsite in Branson, Missouri.  His crew joined Ron’s crew to install a Canton Elevator at The Grand Country Inn.  Canton Elevators have a capacity ranging from 2000 to 3500 pounds, they are the largest elevators we currently offer. They are perfect for many commercial installations, and can be configured to carry either freight or passengers.

Our crews are also in Sullivan, Lees Summit, Pleasant Hill, Kansas City, and Osage Beach today.  If you see one of our trucks feel free to tag us on Facebook using #countryhomeelevator or #wherearewewednesdays

Where Are We Wednesdays (01/10/2018)

Happy Wednesday Folks!

We will start off this week’s update with a picture of the sunrise on one of the newest Country Home Elevator trucks.  As our technicians advance in their training, they can cover more installations and service.  Teamed with rapid growth, these factors led to the need of a larger fleet.  Expect to see many more Country Home Elevator trucks on the road in 2018!

Speaking of trucks on the road, Technician Andy snapped the next picture of his morning view.  His team is accompanying the Arkansas crew to run calls down there today.  They are headed to Rogers, Technician Tim is in Lowell, and the Arkansas team started in Fayetteville then headed to Mountain Home.

The final two pictures were taken by Lead Technician Adam in Illinois today.  Symmetry Home Elevators are manufactured in Illinois, and Country Home Elevator installs them in the Southwestern part of the state.  We are looking to expand in the area, and are currently hiring for a Location Manager and Technicians.

Our crews are also in Puxico, Tulsa, Shawnee, Peculiar, Parkville, Clinton, Hartville and Piedmont today.  If you see one of our trucks feel free to tag us on Facebook using #countryhomeelevator or #wherearewewednesdays

Happy Wednesday Folks!

The pictures on the left were sent by our Oklahoma Operations Manager Jim.  He is with a team in Tulsa installing a Symmetry Limited Use/Limited Access Elevator at one of the high schools.  The Symmetry LU/LA Elevator provides access for low occupancy / low rise commercial buildings, it can reach up to 6 floors.

The top two pictures on the right were sent by our Lead Technician Adam.  He is with our Senior Technician Ron installing a Dumbwaiter at the new Missouri State University Health and Wellness Center in Springfield, Missouri.  If you look closely you can see that the internal mechanics are installed, now they will work on installing the cab and completing the exterior.

The final picture on the bottom was taken by our Arkansas Technician Dustin.  He is in Bentonville today running Planned Maintenance Visits.  Systematic examination, lubrication, adjustment, and cleaning of elevators to factory standards are necessary for safety and for longevity.  Factory standards recommend twice a year maintenance, it is comparative to an oil change and tune up for your car.

Our crews are also in Eldon and Leawood today.  If you see one of our trucks feel free to tag us on Facebook using #countryhomeelevator or #wherearewewednesdays

Happy Wednesday Folks!

The first picture on the left is a Handicare Outdoor Stairlift that was installed in Kimberling City, Missouri.  These lifts are waterproof, and the upholstery is UV protected to prevent weather damage.  They also come with a key switch to prevent unauthorized use of the lift, keeping it safe from any curious neighborhood children!

The top middle picture is a selfie of Ivan, he just flew into Orlando for factory training.  Country Home Elevator prides itself in ensuring that our staff have the most up to date product knowledge, so throughout the year our technicians fly to manufacturing plants for training.  Our goal is high quality installations and efficient service, so our happy customers can use their lifts for years and year.  Enjoy the Sunshine State Ivan!

The bottom middle picture was taken by our Oklahoma Operations Manager Jim in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He is installing Symmetry Home Elevator, here he is adjusting the 3 Speed Symmetry Safety Doors.  These doors are the safest on the market, they are installed on flush frames and have light curtains.

The final picture on the right was taken by our Lead Technician Adam in Springfield, Missouri.  He is with our Senior Technician and crews installing a dumbwaiter in the new Missouri State University Health and Wellness Center.  Many medical centers use dumbwaiters to transport medical specimens and supplies, saving time and protecting vital information.
