Midwest Ability Summit Featuring The Innovative Stairwell Elevator This Weekend

Midwest Ability Summit Featuring The Innovative Stairwell Elevator This Weekend

Open Wall View - The Stairwell Elevator

The Stairwell Elevator: Creation to Exhibition

When Todd Edmunds’ older brother Fritz suffered a neck injury in a diving accident, Todd found the need to find an efficient way to get him up and down the stairs.  Adding an elevator to their home was not an option, he wanted to find a way to utilize the space already taken up by the staircase.  By way of a salvage yard, eBay, and lots of trial and error, the first Stairwell Elevator was created.

Once Todd Edmunds received the US Utility Patent on his project, the next step was to bring the product to the market.  The challenge with an innovative product is that the National Elevator Code does not specifically reference the function of how the Stairwell Elevator operates, and designing to meet the National Elevator Code requires some understanding of the code approval process. Country Home Elevator and Stair Lifts Owner Craig Jones was referred to him by industry colleagues who suggested that he could help.  Coming from a long background of experience in the elevator industry, including a position in the Engineering Department and Sales at American Stair-Glide and positions with Thyssen and Access Industries, Craig was a fully qualified elevator expert well before he founded Country Home Elevator and Stair Lifts in 2001. He holds a number of industry certifications, positions and awards, including 6 years on the ASME 5.3 Residence Elevator Code Committee.

Todd Edmunds and Craig Jones soon added Fabrication Engineer Austin Heywood to the team.   Country Home Elevator Licensed Technicians also assisted with the project, including Senior Technician Ron Gist and Service Manager Bill Zarr.  Now, after a lot of hard work and safety engineering, The Stairwell Elevator Team is now ready to share this invention with the world and to help everyone experience the freedom, utility and affordability that only the Stairwell Elevator can provide.

The Stairwell Elevator will make its first public appearance this August.  “I think we have covered all the Safety aspects and will be asking for Inspector input in our upcoming Overland Park, Kansas Midwest Abilities Summit Show”. – Craig Jones

Where Are We Wednesdays (12/27/2017)

Happy Wednesday Folks!

Sorry for the first picture on the top left being a little blurry, Arkansas Technician Dustin had a little more help than he bargained for today!  He is with a crew installing a Symmetry Home Elevator in Branson, Missouri.  From the lighting it seems that he may have been outside still, hopefully they didn’t have to chase the squirrel out of the house!

The top middle picture is of Technician Ryan in Stockton, Missouri.  He is loading up a used stair lift that they recently removed because the homeowner is selling their house.  Homeowners have previously used our services of uninstalling their lifts when they were reflooring, moving extra large furniture, or simply wanting the lift stored for future use.  If you know someone that is in the market for a used stairlift let us know, this one will soon be available for resale.

The top right picture was taken by Jamie (me!) at our Corporate Office in Brighton, Missouri.  Parts and Warehouse Manager Tom was unloading elevator crates from shipping.  Typically elevators are installed within a few days from delivery, so sometimes Tom has to play Crates Tetris to make everything fit with the continuous change!

The final picture on the bottom was taken by Technician Ivan in Lees Summit, Missouri.  He met up with Kansas City Technician Darren to install a Symmetry Home Elevator.  As you can tell from the light snow dusting, we did have a White Christmas in the Midwest!

Our crews are also in Springfield and Monett today.  If you see one of our trucks feel free to tag us on Facebook using #countryhomeelevator or #wherearewewednesdays

Thanks for reading, and remember to check us out every Wednesday for updates!

Where Are We Wednesdays (12/20/2017)

Happy Wednesday Folks!

The first picture on the left was sent by Lead Technician Adam of Technician Andrew during the installation of a Symmetry Home Elevator in Springfield, Missouri.  Once the hoistway is complete, this type of elevator can be installed in just a few days.  Manufactured in Peoria, Illinois; throughout the year employees attend factory training to be as safe and efficient as possible!

The bottom left picture is my favorite, happy customers!  Our Senior Technician Ron snapped this picture of Mr. & Mrs. Woo out of Florissant, Missouri.  Their Transporter Elevator, featured in the middle, received some final adjustments and is ready for riders!  If you look closely, you can see a convenient foldable seat in the elevator cab.

The top right picture was sent by Technician Ivan.  He is with Oklahoma Operations Manager Jim installing the wiring and call stations for a home in Sapulpa.  Once the construction is closer to completion, crews will return to install the Hydraulic Symmetry Home Elevator.  The driveway has been rained on all day, Ivan had to clean inches of mud off his boots before entering the jobsite!

The final picture on the right was taken by Installation Manager Bill, he is with Sales Consultant John and Technician Andy in Bella Vista, Arkansas.  They are also finishing up on a Symmetry Home Elevator install, we are happy to have so many projects completed in time for Christmas!

Our crews are also in Little Rock, Bethany, Lees Summit, Tulsa, Fenton, and Chesterfield today.  If you see one of our trucks feel free to tag us on Facebook using #countryhomeelevator or #wherearewewednesdays

The first picture on the left is a hoistway that will soon feature a Symmetry Home Elevator.  Country Home Elevator is the official supplier of Symmetry brand elevator options at the Mission Chateau Villas in Prairie Village, Kansas.  This demo elevator will be in the model home, opening spring 2018.  Thank you Amy for the picture!

The top middle picture is of a townhome in Washington, MO.  Technicians Tim and Andy are completing the wiring for five Symmetry Home Elevators that will soon be installed in this renovation.  Tim commented that the townhomes are nestled among beautiful historic buildings, and have gorgeous view of the river.

The bottom middle picture was taken by our Oklahoma Operations Manager Jim in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  His team is installing a Transporter Elevator in this newly built home.

The final picture on the right was taken by our Lead Technician Adam in Kearney, Missouri.  He is with our Technician Austin repairing a Garaventa Lift.

Happy Wednesday Folks!

The first picture on the left is a Handicare Outdoor Stairlift that was installed in Kimberling City, Missouri.  These lifts are waterproof, and the upholstery is UV protected to prevent weather damage.  They also come with a key switch to prevent unauthorized use of the lift, keeping it safe from any curious neighborhood children!

The top middle picture is a selfie of Ivan, he just flew into Orlando for factory training.  Country Home Elevator prides itself in ensuring that our staff have the most up to date product knowledge, so throughout the year our technicians fly to manufacturing plants for training.  Our goal is high quality installations and efficient service, so our happy customers can use their lifts for years and year.  Enjoy the Sunshine State Ivan!

The bottom middle picture was taken by our Oklahoma Operations Manager Jim in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He is installing Symmetry Home Elevator, here he is adjusting the 3 Speed Symmetry Safety Doors.  These doors are the safest on the market, they are installed on flush frames and have light curtains.

The final picture on the right was taken by our Lead Technician Adam in Springfield, Missouri.  He is with our Senior Technician and crews installing a dumbwaiter in the new Missouri State University Health and Wellness Center.  Many medical centers use dumbwaiters to transport medical specimens and supplies, saving time and protecting vital information.

Our crews are also in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Willard, Lake Lotawana, Leawood, St. Joseph, Kansas City, Walnut Ridge, Alton, and Owasso today.  If you see one of our trucks feel free to tag us on Facebook using #countryhomeelevator or #wherearewewednesdays

Where Are We Wednesdays (11/29/2017)

Happy Wednesday Folks!

Today, our Lead Technician Adam has a team installing a Transporter Elevator in Florrisant, Missouri.  The Transporter Elevator is the only battery powered home elevator in the industry, it can run over ten trips simply on the battery.  With all the storms that come through the Midwest, having an elevator that is immune to power outages can make all the difference!

The Transporter Elevator is easily installed, it does not require a traditional hoistway so extensive construction is not necessary.  This elevator is the perfect option for existing homes that do not want to compromise floorspace, pits and machine rooms are not needed.  They can be installed on any wall, it does not have to be exterior or load bearing.  Not having a hoistway is also a perk for homeowners who struggle with claustrophobia.

The Transporter Elevator adheres to The American Society of Mechanical Engineers national standards for elevator code, and does not require special wiring.  This elevator comes in blue, but more options are available.  With an industry competitive warranty, this elevator is a win win!  Call us today for more information, and scroll down for more pictures!

Our crews are also in Lincoln, Elkland, Rogersville, Springfield, Lees Summit, Independence, Mission Hills, Holiday Island, Branson, Oklahoma City and Tulsa today.  If you see one of our trucks feel free to tag us on Facebook using #countryhomeelevator or #wherearewewednesdays
